dirt road

Once upon a time this dirt road was an island
Sequestered off it’s life to all time and space
All the people comfortable in their unknowing
We’re all to comfortable not knowing

Rose comes to my door selling jesus
Like clockwork every month on Monday afternoons
Gives me pamphlets tells me to pray
Says this god of hers is gonna save me someday

Couldn’t find my voice at the same time
Everything in me was screaming
Said hell no, I won’t go
I’ll stay fighting in this hostile world
Where sin and love and life converge into one

We come from somewhere
Living off each others dreams
With our blood carrying our memory
And under the surface
Blinded by our sameness
Surrounded by our own homogony

Couldn’t find my voice at the same time
Everything in me was screaming
Said hell no, I won’t go
I’ll stay fighting in this hostile world
Where sin and love and life converge into one
sin and love and life converge into one
into one, we all converge into one
